climb the mountain. swim the lake

I've moved to yukon for the summer from Ottawa.
I love it here. The scenery is amazing.
It's so relaxed and laid back here. everybody is friendly. everybody is hippies. this is heaven. I'm off to BC for 3 weeks in 4 days. so stoked.

the cottage

This past easter weekend I went to my grandparents cottage in the middle of nowhere. The population is 200 and everybody either is friends with each other or is married to eachother and knits sweaters for eachother. My sister and I ventured around instead of playing scrabble with the old ones and took some photos. this is what happened.

put your records on

I'm pretty damn lucky at my co-op placement thing. I get so many sweet photo ops.
This was a pretty sick one. It's in the radio station studio at Carleton, CKCU 93.1 .
Dennis Molnar has his own show on Thursdays from 12-2 called Fundamentally Sound. I think.
So I went in on Thursday and shot these for a photo essay assignment.
The lighting was pretty tough shit but I still thought the studio and the THOUSANDS of records they have were so sweet.
enjoy.

behind the scenes

on Friday night the staff from the newspaper hosted a dinner party.
We are making a food magazine at the newspaper so we all got together for a "dinner party" and took a shit load of staged photos. Chris (the photographer) had a crap load of gear and flashes and umbrellas and set it all up. The photos looked amazing but I still haven't been sold on the whole technical aspects of photography or all the gear pros buy.
So I am still just shooting with my d300. no flash or umbrella or anything. I love the natural look of it.
The house was incredible so I took advantage of it while it lasted. here is my more fashiony-version of the shoot.
